Color Blocking

I decided to try this color blocking thing I’d read about in a couple places last Friday. It was mostly an excuse to wear some things that I hadn’t worn in quite a while (or ever) and feel like I had a reason to throw them together.

I really wanted to wear my red-orange pants that I got at the Rinaldi costume shop clean out last year, so I looked up the color wheel and saw that red-orange is supposed to go well with blue-green/teal. Surprisingly, I don’t really have any blue-green/teal shirts, but I did manage to find the one in the picture in my pile of clothes-that-I-never-wear. The scarf I added to try to balance the top and my pants and is actually the sash to my Tibetan robe. I didn’t realize until looking at this picture, but I think the outfit looks a little super hero-ish, which I’m not sure I’m really pleased with. Also, the corduroy and satin didn’t really match … hopefully my next attempt at color blocking will be more successful.

I see what you mean about the corduroy and satin looking a little odd, but the shoes look awesome with the orange.
Have you been wearing your glasses at all recently? For some reason the scarf’s making me want them for balance–I could be crazy though.

I’ve been wearing my contacts to try to get used to them again. I was hoping the scarf would balance the pants. I think it looks a bit weird in this picture though. A thin, red-orange belt probably would have worked better.
