Color Blocking

August 15th, 2011

I decided to try this color blocking thing I’d read about in a couple places last Friday. It was mostly an excuse to wear some things that I hadn’t worn in quite a while (or ever) and feel like I had a reason to throw them together.

I really wanted to wear my red-orange pants that I got at the Rinaldi costume shop clean out last year, so I looked up the color wheel and saw that red-orange is supposed to go well with blue-green/teal. Surprisingly, I don’t really have any blue-green/teal shirts, but I did manage to find the one in the picture in my pile of clothes-that-I-never-wear. The scarf I added to try to balance the top and my pants and is actually the sash to my Tibetan robe. I didn’t realize until looking at this picture, but I think the outfit looks a little super hero-ish, which I’m not sure I’m really pleased with. Also, the corduroy and satin didn’t really match … hopefully my next attempt at color blocking will be more successful.

I Hope We Solve This Mystery

I may have a problem …

Several weeks ago, I commissioned these adorable Sherlock BBC bunnies from Moon’s Creations on Etsy, and they’ve arrived. I giggle every time I look at them:

I think I may want a Moriarty bunny to commit some crimes now …

Bacheloritis

I found this hilarious blog today while looking through my RSS feed. I love the Facebook profile picture remakes he’s been making. I particularly like his interpretation of Michael Cera here:

I think a bunch of my friends have Bacheloritis …

Haider Ackermann

August 1st, 2011

Haider Ackermann is a designer that I’ve been obsessed with for a while now. I normally don’t like satin at all, but there’s something about his pieces and their bold colors that I love. Unfortunately, I can’t convince myself that I actually need a $4000 jacket.

More Shoes (Shoes More)

July 21st, 2011

I seem to be on a shoes kick lately, which is a bit weird to me since I used to absolutely hate shoe shopping. Ever since I saw the Marni platform sandals on Already Pretty, I’ve wanted them. More from them:

Not the Frog

A few of the shoe blogs I read have recently been posting shoes from Filipino designer Kermit Tesoro, and I’m in love.

I’m really tempted to get some, but I don’t actually need another pair of $300+ shoes …
